The meditation center is located on the top of a beautiful hill in Calabasas.
The exterior of the meditation hall is embellished with vibrant wind-horse flags, adorned with a variety of sacred mantras meticulously printed upon them. With each flutter of the prayer flags in the wind, the mantras spread throughout the boundless space, bestowing blessings upon immeasurable sentient beings.
Inside the meditation hall, there is a magnificent statue of the Buddha Shakyamuni, the founder of Buddhism.
Next to the statue of the Buddha Shakyamuni, there is also a magnificent statue of Guru Padmasambhava, the founder of Tibetan Buddhism.
Chapter One: The Opening of the Two-Week Long Meditation Retreat
Our Dharma teacher leads all participants to perform a Puja prior to the beginning of the meditation retreat.
As part of the opening ritual of the meditation retreat, our Dharma teacher leads all participants to prostrate the stupa.
During the opening ritual, the head of the monitoring team holds a red board adorned with two Chinese characters “起七”, meaning "commencement of the Meditation Retreat", and showcases it to the four directions, signifying the official commencement of the event. This ceremonial tradition holds great significance, creating a sense of unity and harmony among all participants.
Participants, led by our Dharma teacher, engage in a short walking meditation around the stupa.
As part of the event, participants enjoy a cup of tea.
