Though the Seven-Day Meditation Retreat, originally created by Chan Buddhism in China, has been an intensive group practice method adopted by the Chinese monastic community, it has not been as accessible as it should be for the lay sangha community. Neither does meditation mean to be pessimistic and turn your back on society nor a mental game that helps you kill time.
This video, covering the whole process of the Seven-Day Meditation Retreat created for the lay Dharma practitioners, presents various activities, ranging from the starting and ending rituals, running meditation( Pao Xiang ), monitor ritual ( Jian Xiang ), and dining ritual(Guo Tang ), courses, volunteer works, and so on, that lay practitioners do during a Seven-Day Meditation Retreat so as to figure out what the universe and life are all about.
