Kelsang and his three sons have dedicated their lives to carrying on the precious tradition of Thangka painting, a heavily Buddhist-oriented artistic creation.
The eye-opening touch is the last, most important, and delicate step in Thangka painting. To do it well, Kelsang and his sons retreat for a few days to let their minds and bodies purified and relaxed.
Kelsang's clan is well-known for its mastery of Thanka paintings. Kelsang told us that their faith in Buddhism is the only reason for his ancestors, him and his sons, to create high-quality Thangka paintings constantly. In the future, Kelsang hopes to set up a Thangka Institute for younger generations to learn and carry on the precious tradition of Thangka painting.
